In the past years, especially in African continent, particularly in Tanzania- my motherland; disability matters and people with disabilities were not openly discussed. The issue was treated secretly by the chosen elders! Of course, it was considered a taboo.
Nowadays things are different. People, with and without disabilities can articulate any utterance to suit people with disabilities. Indeed, it is a high time to talk more and more about disability affairs due to several facts. Presently, the two scenes are the key issues to be discussed; one: to educate people about disability and people with disabilities of their crucial human rights and; secondly- drawing the attention to the mass about effects of present poisonous world chemicals, and that, every person is now becoming a prime suspect for being attacked by disability content.
1. We are required to wear and hold strong sense about disability...
2. We need to educate others and be educated of disability concepts...
3. We need to, for us, people with disabilities and the families caring for people with disabilities, tell others what real disability is, putting into the practical ways about the long and immediate effects inherent with it...
See what Oscar Pistorius said...
"I have a strong sense that I have to educate people about disability."
He further said...
"My parents didn't give me any scope to feel sorry for myself. They were just like 'go play with your brother, go climb a tree, go fall off your motorbike, do whatever you want. Don't come crying to us when you get scratched. You've got prosthetic legs - that's very nice.''
Talk openly, discuss freely, feel lucky, and assume privileged to argue about disability and people with disabilities...the central theme being "creating a powerful world to suit every individual in it."
